Grafton Volunteer Water Brigade Hand Over Building to Grafton Rowing Club
As reported earlier, the Grafton Volunteer Water Brigade have closed down, but have left a wonderful legacy in the form of their building in Memorial Park immediately behind the Grafton Rowing Club.

In keeping with the close association between the two clubs over more than 130 years, the GVWB have generously handed over their premises for the use of GRC. Mixed emotions were shown at a handing over ceremony, as this is really the end of an era for Grafton, but it is an era that will not be forgotten as arrangements are in place for the building to house historical memorabilia of both clubs upstairs and a rowing and Water Brigade museum downstairs. The upstairs area will also be used as the GRC meeting rooms, whilst boat repairs can be completed downstairs.

The Water Brigade also funded the purchase of a Sykes 4/quad and Croker sculling blades for the rowing club (below)

These generous gifts are great assets for GRC, but they are tinged with sadness at the passing of an era.
