Grafton Rowing Club Annual General Meeting, June 21, 2001
The Grafton Rowing Club's Annual General Meeting was held in the Water Brigade building on Thursday night, June 21, 2001.
Club President Greg Thompson spoke about the club's success on the water during the year, as well as progress made in the ongoing development of the club. The hosting of five nations for training prior to the Olympics was, of course, a highlight of the year - even though this was a lot of work, it was a huge success for all concerned.
Greg stated he was very proud to be a member of such a great club, saying that he felt the club was very much on track - very much like a family. This spirit was reflected in the work done prior to and after the flooding this year.
Thanks were extended by Greg to all who worked and rowed with
the club during the season, with particular mention made of the ladies who are
active in the club, both on and off the water. Special thanks were extended to a
number of people including:
Ken Maughan (the club captain, who keeps us all on the water)
Ann Collins (newsletter,
raffles, social organisation, etc, etc - one of our hardest workers)
Neville Hackett and the Grafton
Volunteer Water Brigade
Graham Causley (outgoing treasurer after 15 years!)
Rob Bruce (website, Masters application, communications)
Club Captain Ken Maughan also spoke of the club's success on
the water, as well as the good condition of the fleet, including the addition of
several boats during the year. Ken also thanked everyone for their work during
the year, but especially:
Michael Collins for his work while Ken was in hospital
Ann Collins for her work on the newsletter
Neville Doughan for his work around the shed and on boats
Don Noble and Greg Ryan for their work during the floods
John Brien and Greg Ryan for their work on the trailer and quickshade.
The election of officers followed, with only a few changes from this year's office bearers:
