Grafton Rowing Club Boatshed

The Grafton Rowing Club Boatshed has a varied history, having also been used as a warehouse and storage shed for flying boats which used to be a regular mode of passenger and freight transport to and from Grafton. The shed also housed the Volunteer Water Brigade for many years.

Various alterations have been made to the building over the years, including the three gable ended extensions at the front, and the judge's and announcer's box on top of the shed added during the 1990s. The extensions at the front of the building have been a huge improvement, allowing all boats, including eights, to be stored in six bays, perpendicular to the river, as shown on the right - prior to this, many fours and eights had to be stored parallel to the river, with obvious difficulties getting these boats in and out of the shed. |

Alterations inside the building during this time include all new boat and oar racks, a new kitchen, and new shower and toilet facilities.
Our home page shows a shot of the boat shed from the western end. Our history pages show various shots of the original boatshed (or here, or even here) and of the current boatshed shortly after its construction. Our membership page shows another shot of the boatshed - this time from the river. Our regatta page shows an aerial shot of the shed on a regatta day.
